Mongolia has 21 aimags, or provinces; each with a different history and cultural aspect of Mongolian culture and tradition.
The names of the aimags are (from west to east):
Bayan-Olgii, Khovd, Uvs, Zavkhan, Gov-Altai, Bayanhongor, Arkhangai, Bulgan, Orkhon, Khuvsgol, Oworhangai, Omnogov, Dundgov, Govsumber, Tov, Selenge, Darkhan-Uul, Khentii, Dorngov, Sukhbaatar, and Dornod
Each province has a capital town or city (called the aimagiin tov, meaning provincial center), as well as other smaller towns called soums.
